I like the content very much terrific story. One thing I am confused about sometimes is the ranks. For example they say that Salazar Reed is a high ranking Marine officer at Captain but that is actually the same as the naval rank of Lieutenant which is Wyatt's rank so while he may be senior in grade they actually hold the same rank and Reed seems a little old for that rank seeing that he's around fifty. Some of the other things that have been mentioned about the various ranks mentioned confuse me as well but I've rambled on long enough 😊

It's a nice little story, but sadly I think it would go the other way around the bloodthirsty warmongers would blow up the planet just to get rid of us undesirable you know us deplorables

Kinda sounds more like they blew up the Earth, because people they disagreed with morally, took over. Calling them wolves while they nuke the Earth into oblivion. Sounds like the spoiled rich kids lost power over the people, is more like it.

I know this was a one shot, but I would love to see the aftermath in detail.

Phew... the grim reality of a war that isn't going so well. But the story is very compelling and I really like the side notes like the 'detailed education in pharmacology'.. 😅

Something makes me wonder. They were two light years away and from the look of it we were just terraforming mars recently when they got the emergency. 1) we somehow got the technology to travel 2 light years fast enough to reach them before anyone one of their own rescue could despite millions if not billions of years of advancement they had in the spacefaring. 2) We understood it was a distress signal but somehow couldn't decipher their language enough to get basic communication in the 2 light year journey to rescue them took place? 3) While they were 2 light year away they couldn't decipher our language and could just observe our actions even though we were sending signals towards space all this time with various messages? (Contact never happened?)

Interesting story, but it was not a "good" story. The "survivors" sounded like they were trying to justify their "murder" of the remaining humans and the Earth.

Wow... The musings of someone who can casually justify mass murder on a planetary scale. It's as if Mao or Pol Pot wrote a sci-fi fantasy. Leaving isn't enough, they must purify the race! I only hope this was a satire.

The humans remaining on Earth were subhuman, "Untermensch" in Nazi parlance. The future these starfarers will create will be as dark and bloody as the history they believe they're leaving behind.

I've listened to this story possibly dozens of times now, yes I love it that much, but I now wonder is the female human who chases down the last Larashi Prince, Penelope from the Human Security Guard ;) seems like it could be her.

Nice story. The “could have” “would have” “should have” is always a tough pill to swallow. Also, the not so subtle Harder Better Faster Stronger reference was well done.
